What is it like to be in group counseling?

Group counseling is a group of individuals that are there to improve their interpersonal relationships and overall well-being.  Each session typically involves members speaking openly about their feelings and talking directly to one another about their personal problems.  Group counseling is a more laid back atmosphere and no one is forced to spill any deep secrets, etc.  Group members are encouraged to share openly and to be honest with others.  The entire goal of group counseling, is to allow members to see they are not alone in their issues, to gain emotional growth and learn healthy behaviors to develop more effective problem-solving skills. Groups normally meet once a week.
